From Iraq blogs to Dave Barry

Bureau Chief John Walcott does a nice job describing our plans and intentions in this interview with E&P Magazine about our new website:

"The biggest single thing is the interactivity," said Bureau Chief John Walcott, whose staff also includes the paper's eight foreign correspondents. "We are trying to make it a destination site for the kind of journalism we do, not a breaking news site, to highlight our brand of news."

  1. A destination, eh? I've heard that word before:

Google is a platform. Yahoo is a portal. Google is a network. Yahoo is a destination. Google is a tool. Yahoo is a thing. -- Jeff Jarvis

    Is news.mcclatchydc.com a destination or a tool?

  4. I want to have answer this for me:

McClatchy’s new national/international news service site, news.mclatchy.com. Note the attempt to be the platform, not just a static news site.
