In a letter received Aug. 6, Greg Aiello, vice president/public relations for the National Football League, defends their position on the use of logos on photographers' vests required for credentialing.
Aiello says logos are not intended for advertising purposes, rather acknowledge sponsorship of the vests and will remain.

NFL: wear the vest

The solution is simple: don't cover the games.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see who is more relevant then!
I'm afraid that didn't clarify much for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat the NFL seems to be saying is if I want to jump onto the sidelines, I now just need to wear a red vest.
(oh, that can't be what they're after)
And if it's a "security" issue, why isn't the NFL picking up the cost of the vest manufacture themselves?
If it's just a "red vest" issue for "identification," couldn't ASNE, McClatchy or any of the individual papers provide their own red vests?
Or, if it really isn't about the logo being visible, then perhaps the NFL won't mind when those logos are sewn over or replaced with a publication logo.
Right?
